I have some questions
Do you have a specific teaching qualification?
I have over 20 years' experience as a teacher. I am an Advanced Skills Driver and hold an ADI licence issued by DVLA. All driving tutors must have the relevant qualification for their teaching. Always ask to see it. If they are trustworthy they will be happy to show it to you.
Do you charge for cancellation?
Life is unpredictable. As your instructor, I will try to accommodate as much as possible. If you give me at least 24 hours notice of cancellation there will be no charge for your driving lesson. Less than 24 hours notice will be charged if I can not fill your space.
Where do you hold your driving course?
Wherever suits you. Lessons can start and end at your place of work / school / college or home. Your driver training will include practice driving on test routes so that you are ready to pass your test. But being a good driver is more than being able to pass a test. Part of your driving education will be to make sure you are happy and safe driving on a variety of roads in a variety of driving conditions.
How far in advance do I have to book?
You're the boss! To reliably get the exact times you want for your lessons, I recommend booking as far in advance as you can. However schedules can change and that's what makes life enjoyable. If you have booked a block of training but need to arrange lessons on a week-by-week basis I will do all I can to meet your needs. I will tailor your driving course to suit you.
How many driving lessons will I need?
The length of a driving course depends on so many things that it is impossible to answer this question honestly. The most important factors are how much practice you are able to do between lessons and how calm and observant you are as a driver. Most people take between 35 and 50 hours' tuition to pass their test.
Can I use my own car?
Your safety, and that of other road users, is my priority. Using my car means I can take control in an emergency situation. If you really want to use your own car I am happy to make a judgement based on an assessment of your ability and reliability of your car...but no promises.
What happens on test day?
So you are ready for the test. Lets give you the best chance of passing.
Have a one-hour lesson before the test and then allow another hour and 20minutes for the actual test. The pre-test session will be as close as possible to your test time and date. It is designed to help to settle nerves and gives you the best possible chance of getting that independence you need.
Can I have extra lessons?
If other students need to cancel a lesson, I will advertise their space on a first come first served basis. Feel free to grab an extra bonus lesson if the time of the cancellation is convenient for you.
How long before I can start?
The length of your wait depends on finding a time and place when we are both available. That space will only become available when the student who currently occupies it, passes their test. Even then there may be another student ahead of you waiting for that same slot. The amount of time you will need to wait is out of my control. The more availability you have, the less time you will need to wait.
Please bear in mind that weekend and after-college slots are in high demand and have a long waiting list.
How can I save money and time?
I work in Lincoln to prepare people to take their test in Lincoln. If you live in one of the surrounding villages, we may need to spend a fair chunk of every lesson driving to and from Lincoln. This can become expensive quickly. To try and get round this, I have students from Sleaford and Tattershall who meet me in Lincoln for their lessons. That saves them having to drive long distances up and down the same road every week and having to pay to do so. If you are able to do the same, it would certainly be worth your while, otherwise you are basically just paying me to be a very expensive taxi!
